Biography for Alfred Penko as published in the 2009 Pollen Count
Alfred Penko (North Royalton, OH) attended Wallings Road School for 1st through 6th grades. He had Miss Stead-1st, Mrs. Vernon-2nd, a screaming shrew-3rd, Mrs. McFarlen-4th, Mr. Vance-5th and Mr. Thomas-6th. Miss Lyman was the principal and Mr. Dvorak was the custodian.
7th and 8th grade were in the high school near the center of town. His favorite teacher was Mr. Kock who taught 7th grade Geography.
9th through 12th grade were at the same school mentioned above. Some of Alfred's favorite teachers were Mr. Beck-10th grade Geometry, Mr. Nicoletti-10th grade World History and 12th grade Government and "coup d'e-tat".
After graduation Alfred attended Ohio University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. From 1964-70 he "worked in cubicles." From 1970-2000 Alfred worked at Cuyahoga Community College as an Instructor of Engineering Technology. He retired in 2000.
In 1964 Alfred married to Susan Schmid,'61. Alfred and Susan divorced in 1980. They have three children, Jon, '85, Christine '87 and Jennifer. He has five grandchildren, one girl and four boys. Alfred says he has "unusual hobbies". |
